  Practicing Success
Posted by alexfun @ Fri Sep 15, 2006 10:15 am
"We are what we repeatedly do; excellence then is not an act, but a habit"

- Aristotle

Success is not a event. It is an on-going process we engage in, time ane time again. Aristotle says it in a profound way. Anyone can succeed once or twice. And, anyone can fail or lose a battle or two along the way. What we must focus on is the habit of excellence; practicing success, repreatedly, day after day. - John C. Maxwell

  FYSB 3 Rules on Rehearsals
Posted by alexfun @ Thu Jul 13, 2006 1:19 pm
FYSB 3 Rules on Rehearsals:

Rule 1: No Pencil, out!
Pencil Culture has been the habit that most of us seemingly reluctant to pick up, therefore, this rules is set. Not only must we have pencils during rehearsals, we must also use it to the fullest. Things demanded by the conductors during rehearsals such as expression, emotions, parts to pay attention on, and changes imposed by the conductor, etc., are the subject to jot down on the music scores. (You might even draw on your scores.) Without pencil culture, you would have to piss off the conductor simply because you forget what he/she has demanded in the music before, thus, you would be wasting everybody's time and also lose what you once have learnt in previous rehearsals.

Rule 2: No Bar Numbers, out!
Bar numbers are vital during rehearsals, epecially when time is limitted or performance is around the corner. The Bar Number MUST BE written on score in every single bar. No alternate bar number, please.

Rule 3: No music scores, out!
It is your personal responsibility to make sure that you have the music scores and are prepared with practice before you come to rehearsals.

WHEN YOU ARE CAUGHT?
You are allowed to immediately rejoin the rehearsal if you manage to have these requirements immediately fulfilled.
